(Module 2)

Course Description

The course "The role of the university in regional development, the university's social responsibility as one of the strategic goals of the university" discusses the best European experience of how regional higher education institutions, local government and regional enterprises interact and how they coexist for regional development. The main theme will be the connection between the university and the outside community such as local government and industries.

The aim of the training is to raise the awareness of the participants about the role of the University in the regional development, to share European practices and to establish knowledge about the different approaches of cooperation between the higher education institution and the local community (government and business sector).

Target group:

Representatives of the local regional authorities of Kakheti, representatives of partner business industries and university staff  ( the diversity of participants will give course leader a chance to open the live discussions from different perspective) 

 

Expected learning outcomes:

Participants will receive information about the  EU co-funded project RURD project 

• Will have the opportunity to understand the role of the University in regional development from the perspective of the HEI

• Participants will be able to re-evaluate the existing duties  and responsibilities of the relationship between HEIs and their organizations.

• Participants will have an idea of ​​the University's social responsibility as the University's third mission / its positive impact on regional development

Didactical Approach

Preparatory work:

Participants should be prepare presentation in advance about their organization, their connections to their university.

   During the course:

• Participants should take an active part in the discussion

• Use a Mentimeter if necessary

Contents:

1. RURD project presentation

2. Competitiveness, Strategic management, Strategic branding and imaging of cities/ regions

3. Identify and understand the various opportunities for interaction between the University, local government and industry partners

4. Barriers and Challenge Analysis for Cooperation between University, Local Government and Industry Partners

5. Practical and strategic approaches to establishing new connections both online and face-to-face, as well as maintaining existing relationships

6. What is social responsibility for the university in general and for the university in particular.

Participants are asked to distribute the information about the possibility of attending course in their organization  

At the end of the course participants are given the Certificate of attendance.
