The next consortium meeting was held at Telavi State University on May 2-4 within the framework of EU funded Project RURD.
During the meeting, there was a discussion about practical issues related to the project implementation and key outcomes, financial and administrative, mechanisms for inter-agency cooperation between local governments and universities, and other important issues.
The First Deputy Governor of Kakheti, Platon Kalmakhelidze, made a speech about the importance of the project and emphasized the role of the University involvement in the development of the region.
The meeting was attended by the project members from the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.
On May 3, a meeting of the Board of Rectors of Regional Universities was held within the framework of the project. The session was opened by the Rector of the University Irma Shioshvili, where one of the main issues was the discussion around tuition funding models.
The rectors of the universities presented their visions and agreed on the possible versions.
Erasmus + Institutional Development Project "Role of Universities in the Regional Development _RURD", in cooperation with EU partners, aims to improve the role of Georgian regional higher education institutions in the development of regions, modernize their mission and strategic development plan, and strengthen cooperation between universities and local authorities in order to increase their capacity taking into account specification of each region.
