Students’ scientific conference combining 700 Georgian students took place at Akaki Tsereteli State University on May 10-11, 2016. Amongst was Maka Botkoveli – Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University student of the faculty of Humanities. She presented the topic – “Vanta Archeological Excavations”. Maka turned out to be amongst those 130 successful students who were awarded with the certificates.   

The closing conference of the “Tempus” project “SuToMa” – “Development of New Modules 
for International Bachelor and Master Programmes in Sustainable Tourism Management” – was held in Wilhelmshaven, Germany on May 9-12.

The famous Georgian psychologist, Levan Zardalishvili gave a public lecture at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on March 25. The subject of the public lecture was  “Effective Communication”.

On March 18, 2016, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement gave accreditation to the Teacher Preparation Educational Program presented by Tesau. The Program contains 60 ECTS credits. The graduate will be awarded with the Teacher Preparation certificate and have the right to teach in the selected field.

“Open Door’s Day” took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University. On March 3, Tesau hosted 11th and 12th grade pupils from Kvareli, Dedoplistskaro, Signagi and Lagodekhi Municipality Public Schools. The meeting was attended by Rector deputies, deans of the faculties and heads of Quality Assurance Services. They made an exhaustive report concerning various accredited educational programs at the university, international relations, local and international conferences, cooperation agreements with different organizations and future career perspectives for students.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University students and Vaja-Pshavela Telavi Dramatic Theatre artists introduced journalist Nato Megutnishvili’s creative works to the society.

Telavi I Public School Pupils visited Tesau Lab financed from the Presidential Reserve Fund on March 2nd. They examined the Lab equipment and attended the lesson of Biology conducted by the pedagogue Nana Garjikauli.

Department of National Curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Science publishes information about active vacancies given by LEPL Social Service Agency Department of Career Programmes for doing mediatorial service to the employers.

LEPL “Children and Youth National Center” of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs is holding a creative festival “FunART” on March 24-31 for the fourth time. The festival combines several genres of art (author’s or improvised classical composition, stencil, literature, sculpture, rock/alternative, folklore, social tele-media, film/animation, photography, painting).     

Education and Career Fair “future4you”- 2016 took place at Telavi Vaja-Pshavela State Dramatic Theatre on February 26th. According to the organizers, the project aims to help students in choosing their future profession and find jobs easily.

Different regional organizations had an opportunity to have direct contact with job seekers. 

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University was actively involved in the project. Tesau representatives made a detailed presentation on professional and academic education and labor market vacancies. 

The international student conference “Tourism Development Perspectives in Georgia and World Experience“, organized by Research and Planning Department of Georgian National Tourism Administration, will be held on April 15, 2016. 

“Doors Open Day” took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University. On February 23, Tesau hosted 11th and 12th grade pupils from Telavi and local municipality public schools.

The meeting was attended by Rector Deputies, Deans of the faculties and heads of Quality Assurance Services. They made an exhaustive report concerning various accredited educational programs at the university, international relations, local and international conferences, cooperation agreements with different organizations and future career perspectives of students.  

After the meeting public school pupils inspected Telavi State University study labs, reading and conference halls, computer centers, Archaeology room, Journalism Center, Law Clinic, Turkish Language Center and other rooms equipped with modern technologies.

International Conference – “Black Sea, Resources and Ecology” (ICBS, 2016) is taking place on June 22-23, 2016 in Sochi, Russia.

Within the scope of “European Neighborhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD)”, Georgian Institute of Public Affairs in partnership of the Caucasus Environmental  NGO Network  (CENN) and Research Centre (PMC) fulfils the project “Empowering Modern Research Practices of the Regional Agriculture-Related Institutions”.

Rehabilitation works taking place in the building of Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Educational Sciences were finished.

The rehabilitated cabinets were examined by the University Rector, Irma Shioshvili on February 11th. Presentation was attended by Deputy Rector, professor-teachers and administration representatives. 

Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation announced a contest for getting Masters’ research project grants. The contest aims at raising the quality of scientific-researches, academic level and promoting development of research skills within MA thesis of Master students enrolled on accredited MA educational programme. The National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University will implement a joint project – “Telavi – the History and Contemporaneity”. 

On February 6th Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University arranged a concert for the National Guards’ 20th brigade soldiers and military servants at Telavi State Dramatic Theatre. 

The National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University are going to implement a joint project – “Telavi – the History and Contemporaneity”. 
With the support of the National Archives, Telavi State University professors will work on the unexplored material. This is the first time for conducting the research about the history of Telavi. The project aims at investigating the tendencies of Telavi development at the end of XIX century and in the first twenties of XX century on the basis of authentic, original archival sources.

Winter School is taking place at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University from February 29th including March 6, 2016. The program covers lectures and discussions conducted by Georgian and foreign pedagogues. The scientific director of the project is TSU Professor, Dr. Iago Katchkatchishvili. 

PhD student of the Doctoral Educational Program of English Language Teaching Methodology, Tamta Nadirashvili is maintaining a thesis at the faculty of Educational Sciences on February 12th, 2016 12:00. The subject of the dissertation work is: “English Language Vocabulary Teaching/Learning Strategies and Techniques at Universities (While Teaching a Foreign Language)”

Based on the information spread from the Czech Republic we would like to notify that EUROPEUM – the Institute for European Policy organizes Summer School in Prague on July 16th, 2016. This year’s European Summer School is titled “Europe in Motion”.

Under the agreement of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese Government has set up 20 full scholarship programs for Georgian students.

International Association for the Promotion of Georgian/Kartvelian Studies and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with the financial support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation announces a call for Winter School in Kartvelian Studies – 2016. The 7th International Symposium on Kartvelian Studies will be taking place on October 17th to 22nd, 2016 at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
The year 2016 is significant for Kartvelian Studies and culture as it is the year of the anniversaries of Shota Rustaveli and the founder of Tbilisi State University, Ivane Javakhishvili. The programme of the 7th  International Symposium in Kartvelian Studies will be linked to these anniversaries and its main working theme will be ”Georgia in a context of European Civilization”.  
The International Symposium welcomes papers on any topic relating to the Kartvelian Studies. 

A call is open for partners willing to participate in the 3rd International Contemporary Art Triennial for School Students Eksperimenta! “Art and Economy”.
The Eksperimenta! will be taking place in October-December 2017 in Tallinn, Estonia. It is a multi-level international art education project designed for students between the ages of 14 and 19, as well as artists and art teachers

“Junior Achievemnt Georgia” supported by German Savings Banks foundation invites 16 to 25 years old students to attend on free educational program about “Financial Literacy”.

“Junior Achievement Georgia” is implementing programs of “Junior Achievement Worldwide” in Georgia, which aims to raise young student’s financial literacy, entrepreneurial skills and their job readiness skills. The program includes 12 academic hours, and students from 16 to 25 years old can participate in it.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University announces contest for filling academic positions in the following fields:

Georgian Flag Day was celebrated on January 14th. Students erected Georgian national flags in the frontier regions of the country accompanied with the national hymn.
Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University students were involved in this great event as well. Representatives of Tesau Students’ Self-government erected the national flag over the administrative building in Lagodekhi, afterwards they participated in Tbilisi events.

International Education Center announces a new scholarship programme – “MA Programmes in France 2016-2017” for BA fourth course and MA students from Georgian Higher Educational Institutions. 

Certification exams for the election administration officials will be launched from February 10, 2016.
Certification aims at defining knowledge of election legislation and general skills of Georgian citizen. Certification is legislative requirement, which supports the election administration to select qualified officials.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Associate Professor of the faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Law in the field of Tourism – Tamar Tamarashvili and the students of the mentioned faculty participated in the training held in a popular health resort Tsaghkadzor, Armenia on January 18-22. The training was carried out under the international project “SuToMa”.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University International Relations Office is carrying out an examination in English and German languages under ERASMUS+ program on December 4th, 11:00. 

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University and Caucasus University Professor, Tengiz Simashvili conducted a lecture-presentation on December 2nd. On December 9, Tesau Dramatic Circle students carried out a literary event – “Akaki’s Georgia” at Telavi State University library hall.
The performance dedicated to Akaki Tsereteli’s anniversary covered the life and creation of the writer. Students recalled Akaki’s rhymes and songs.
The event was attended by Telavi State University Rector, professor-teachers, students and famous artists from Telavi Theatre.

“Georgian Center for Security and Development” implements the project – “Youths for Security”. Within the project, the mentioned Non-governmental Organization will select 10 students and organize 3-days visit for them in different corresponding organizations and agencies in Tbilisi. Students will have a chance to submit projects. The best 3 projects will be supported by “Georgian Center for Security and Development”

The republican conference – “School and University III” was held at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on December 14, where pupils read their reports prepared by PhD students of the faculty of Humanities.
Pupils from Tbilisi and Telavi Municipality public schools took part in the mentioned arrangement. Their topics were diverse covering the ancient and contemporary Georgian writing.

A new academic and research project – “Reinforcement of Modern Research Practice in Regional Rural Institutions” will be implemented at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University.

The Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia launched the first stage of Hepatitis C elimination program that aims to decrease death rate and infection circulation caused by Hepatitis C in Georgia.
Under the abovementioned program, the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health is organizing free screening actions in Municipalities.

On December 16th Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University hosted the representatives of Israel Haifa University and Gordon College.
Under the project, financed by the European Committee, a working group including Rhonda Sofer, Galit Caduri and Rabia Basis met with Tesau Rector and International Relations Office staff. Situation existing in Tesau and Israel Higher Educational Institutions was analyzed during the meeting.

A call for scholarship programme 2016-2017 was announced by the Hungarian Government under the exchange programme of the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungarian Government and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
Within the abovementioned programme, Hungarian side is offering Georgian one a study allowance for 50 Georgian students on full and part time Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programmes.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Scientific-Research Center of Caucasus and the Department of History are arranging Professor Tengiz Simashvili’s lecture-presentation under the ongoing project – “Telavi – History and Contemporaneity” on December 22nd, 12:00 (Telavi University Campus I, floor II, assembly hall).

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Faculty of Agrarian Sciences, as well as Kutaisi and Akhaltsikhe State University Agrarian Faculties (project presenter – Non-commercial Legal Entity “People’s Harmonious Development Society” (PHDS), project director – Davit Nazarovi) were involved in the investigations carried out on the pilot plot.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University students’ team “Herodotus” from the faculty of Humanities (specialty – History) gained the title of Tesau champion in intellectual game “What? Where? When?”.
In the final meeting carried out on December 28, the historians defeated the team “L-S-D” consisting of students from different faculties of Tesau.

On 24th of November, PhD student of the educational programme of Education Sciences – Tamar Mamsikashvili maintained a thesis at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Educational Sciences. The subject of the thesis was “Scientific Bases of Managing Modern School that Provides General Education” (supervisor – Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Guram Chachanidze; reviewers: 1. Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Ketevan Nanobashvili,
2. Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Nino Modebadze

Exponents, namely, the manuscripts dated by 1914-1918 were given to Ivane Beritashvili Museum. The unique documents include materials depicting development and experimental works of Physiology as the subject. They also contain personal letters; reports read from different forums, the book “Memories about Ivane Beritashvili” and so on.

On November 25th, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University International Relations Office arranged an informational meeting regarding the contest announced under ERASMUS+ programme for Tesau students.

Representatives of Non-governmental Organization “Center for Democracy Intensification” conducted a lecture at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on November 20. The meeting about the topic “Learn More about Your Rights” covered the meaning of the association agreement with Europe.

Under the anti-corruption week a public lecture will be held for students at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on December 11, 12:00. The subject of the lecture is “Georgia’s National Anti-corruption Policy and Society Involvement Processes” (address: #1, Kartuli Universiteti Street, Telavi).

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Professor, Ketevan Gigashvili made a presentation about 6th volume of the Academic Publication of Georgian Writers’ Epistolary Legacy dated by XIX-XX centuries at the Georgian National Academy of Sciences.
The publication includes Grigol Orbeliani’s personal letters kept in different archives. 535 letters are already published for today; hence, 154 are published for the first time.

Mansankan Autumn Champions League between the funny and inventive teams is taking its start from 20th of October 2015 where Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University is invited as well. 

Students International Scientific Conference honoring to the 80th Anniversary of Shota Rustaveli State University was taking place in Batumi within September 25-27. About 100 students from Georgian and foreign higher educational institutions were taking part in it. Among them were the students of Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University: Maradi Pitskhelauri – fourth course student of the faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences (educational programme – Ecology) and Archil Botkoveli – fourth course student of the same faculty (educational programme – Informational Technologies).

On 15th of October Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Educational Sciences was visited by the “Day Center” pedagogues of the foundation “New Life”.

The Human Rights Education and Monitoring Center (EMC) made a discussion about “Gender and Policy of Education” at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on October 21.
The participants of the discussion considered different manifestations of gender oppression, spoke about labor migration, Georgian history of feminism and other problems.
At the meeting, the reporters emphasized the policy of education as well and the factors hampering youths in getting perfect higher education.

Volleyball tournament took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on October 22. The participants of the competition were teams of Tesau faculty of Educational Sciences, faculty of Agrarian Sciences, technical personnel and university administration employees.
In the final meeting, the teams of technical personnel and the faculty of Educational Sciences were competing to each other.

Telavi State University Georgian folk dance ensemble “Mukhambazi” have been to Baku. The dancers’ performance gained a triumph in the capital of Azerbaijan.

Informational meeting regarding the projects of youths’ platform “Libandaki” and “League of Fluent Debates” – “School of Freedom”, Competition of Essays and Debates was held at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on November 5 of the current year.
At the meeting, it was mentioned that applications are invited for Georgian championship in debates.
The championship will take place at Free University and the winners will be awarded with prizes and bilingual certificates. They will get books from the sponsors

On November 6, students of the faculty of Humanities carried out a special literary event dedicated to Akaki Tsereteli’s life and creation.
Students spoke about the period covering Akaki’s childhood, family, gymnasium years, his poetry and prose.
