On November 20, 2024, the online working meeting of the European Commission-funded project "ETHICS" unfolded with a sense of purpose and collaboration. Members of the fifth working group, guided by the European partner group leaders, gathered virtually to review their progress and align their efforts.
The session began with a series of presentations where representatives from each participating institution unveiled the research ethics regulations they had meticulously developed. These presentations sparked vibrant discussions about the alignment of the regulations with the project’s overarching goals and the rigorous standards of European research ethics.
As the meeting progressed, the spotlight shifted to the accomplishments of the institutions. Detailed reports on the trainings and activities conducted thus far were shared, showcasing the dedication and innovation of the teams involved. Stories of best practices emerged, accompanied by candid reflections on challenges faced and strategies devised to overcome them. The exchange of ideas painted a vivid picture of collective progress and determination.
Beyond the exchange of knowledge, the meeting proved to be a crucible for collaboration. Participants engaged in meaningful dialogue, seeking ways to harmonize their ethics regulations and ensure a unified approach across institutions. The atmosphere was one of mutual respect and shared commitment, underscoring the project’s emphasis on ethical integrity and academic excellence.
As the meeting drew to a close, the group charted a path forward. They agreed to review and refine the presented regulations, consolidate their findings into a comprehensive report, and prepare for the next working group session, where the focus would shift to planning the upcoming stages of the project.
