At Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University named, within the framework of the international project ESTA, the conference "Development of language skills in natural science teaching" was held. In the 2021-2022 academic year, teachers from different municipalities trained within the framework of the ESTA project shared their experience with the conference listeners about the natural science learning modules focused on the development of language skills introduced in the educational process.
At the conference, students of the 3rd year of the integrated bachelor-master educational program of the university's general education primary level teacher training presented reports. The papers included the experience gained and put into practice within the course "Integrated teaching of science and Georgian as a second language at the primary level" developed within the framework of the ESTA project.
Professors and students of the project's partner university, Ilia State University, also took part in the conference. The partners made reports on theoretical topics, as well as in practice on the implementation of the CLIL method in schools in the integrated teaching of natural science and Georgian as a second language. The presentations were followed by hands-on activities where teachers and students were introduced to modern, inquiry-based and discovery-based teaching approaches to sound in science.
