Dissertation Defense at TeSaU Faculty of Humanities

On July 5th, doctoral student Eka Kobiashvili defended dissertation at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Faculty of Humanities for obtaining academic degree of the Doctor of History. The title of the dissertation work is “The National-liberation Movement in Georgia in the First Half of XIX Century” (academic supervisors: Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Teimuraz Vakhtangishvili and Doctor of History, Associate Professor Malkhaz Tsirekidze).

The main goal of the scientific work is to study the national-liberation movement going on in the first half of the 19th century based on processing and comparison of primary sources, historical records and scientific literature, to reveal its peculiarities, to identify the reasons, goals and consequences of these events, and finally to evaluate their role and place in restoring Georgian statehood and in the entire process of  historical development.

Scientific novelty of the work is to reveal those facts and archival documents which were the most important one for the national-liberation movement in Georgia in the first half of XIX century.

Eka Kobiashvili was awarded the academic degree of the Doctor of History.
