Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Library has a long-standing history. There are big and small presentation halls on the first floor of the Library building, which are used as lecture-rooms as well. The reading-hall, computer-information center, “interlibrary loan” and “book depository” are located on the second floor.
16 computers located in “information center” are easy to access for students. They have an opportunity to get information from the best-known and important informational sources (EBSCO Publishing, Eric, Medline; Cambridge University Press; Encyclopaedia Britannica). The mentioned electronic resource is available from all the information centers of the university. We have interlibrary loan with 66 Georgian libraries, amongst with the libraries of different countries throughout the world in el-form. The information center often hosts exams, lectures conducted by local or foreign specialists.
The library always buys necessary, essential literature, though it regularly gets books as gifts in Georgian, as well as in foreign languages.
The library halls often host dissertation defenses, meetings with different bodies, lectures, professor-teachers’, BA and MA students’ scientific sessions and conferences, international trainings, thematic trainings, anniversary events. Besides, Library Week is celebrated annually. The whole week is full of different kinds of events, important meetings. The library has students’ initiative group existing with students’ self-governance, who arrange mass scientific and creative events, presentations, trainings, different expositions.
The library is also the member of the Trade Union – “Georgian Library Association”. The library has all conditions for the University students and professor-teachers for working in a calm and nice environment.
