Mother Language Day is celebrated in Georgia on April 14. Georgian population, together with the representatives of intelligentsia carried out mass demonstrations and opposed the Soviet Union decision about annulling Georgian, as the state language in Georgia on April 14, 1978. The protest of Georgian citizens had the result – the communist regime retreated and April 14 was announced as the Mother Language Day. Different measurements are planned to take place at Telavi State University in connection with the mentioned date. |
