On October 31st, PhD student of Typological Linguistics doctoral educational program defended dissertation at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Dissertation Board of the faculty of Humanities.
The title of the dissertation is “Linguistic Portrait of Character in the Drama Text and Specificity of its Translation (on the example of “A Streetcar Named Desire” by Tennessee Williams; text translation by G. Jabashvili and L. Inasaridze). Scientific supervisors of the work are: Professors Nunu Geldiashvili and Manana Garibashvili.
The aim of the dissertation thesis is the investigation of language consciousness in Georgian translations of drama “A Streetcar Named Desire” by Tennessee Williams; determination of the idiostyles of the author and the characters, showing and assessment of mechanisms of their reflections in translations; determining the quality of linguistic expression; studying the types and causes of culturological interpretations and translational transformations reflected in the translations.
Nino Gorgisheli was awarded the academic degree of the Doctor of Philology.
