“Lessons by Classics” – 25th scientific conference dedicated to Mukhran Machavariani took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on June 16.
The event was attended by the family members of the famous poet Mukhran Machavariani, Professors from Arnold Chikobava Institute of Linguistics, Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, Telavi State University and other honorable guests as well.
Conference reports covered Mukhran Machavariani’s poetical miniatures, narrative variations, collected nursery rhymes, poet’s language, syntactical peculiarities and other themes. A documentary film was also displayed during the event depicting Mukhran Machavariani’s life and creative work.
During the event, Telavi State University Deputy Rector, Professor Nunu Geldiashvili emphasized the significance of the scientific conference.
TeSaU Professor, Roin Chikadze gave memorable gifts to guests, and the Institute of Literature gifted Galaktion Tabidze’s five-volume series to Telavi State University.
Scientific conference dedicated to 150th anniversary of Iakob Gogebashvili took place in Telavi on December 14, 1991. During the conference it was decided to arrange such kind of conferences regularly. This was the origin of “Lessons by Classics”.
