The National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University will implement a joint project – “Telavi – the History and Contemporaneity”.
With the support of the National Archives, Telavi State University professors will work on the unexplored material. This is the first time for conducting research about the history of Telavi. The project aims at investigating the tendencies of Telavi development at the end of XIX century and in the first twenties of XX century on the basis of authentic, original archival sources.
For beginning the project a cooperation memorandum was drawn up between the parties on February 10th at Telavi State University. The memorandum was signed by the Director General of National Archives Teona Iashvili and Telavi State University Rector Irma Shioshvili.
The project provides academic publication of the history illustrated with proper photos and documentary material kept in the National Archives of Georgia.
After signing the memorandum, head of Telavi State University “Caucasus Scientific-Research Centre”, Professor Tengiz Simashvili made a presentation about the unique research “Telavi – the History and Contemporaneity”.
Scientific project financed by Tesau covers a year and the group of researchers will get free archival service during that period.
