On June 13^th, within the framework of the project INTEGRITY a meeting was held at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University. The meeting covered the issues of plagiarism detection and prevention in higher educational space.

Within the framework of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) the Government of India announced admission to short, medium and long-term study programmes in 250 different courses of about 25 fields for the academic years 2018-2019. 30 places, in total, are separated for Georgia.

The next consortium meeting of the DARE Project, funded by the European Commission, was held at Sokhumi State University and Ilia State University on November 20-23.

Within the framework of the international Project UNISON, Santiago de Compostela University (Spain) hosted training for the Project member University representatives.

Telavi State University representatives, under the international project – “UNISON” – attended the meeting at Berlin University of Applied Sciences.

Under the EU funded project “UNISON”, “The Incubator of Ideas” will be created at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University.

Business sector, existing in Kakheti, got a business proposal from Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University. In that regard, TeSaU Rector met with the representatives of different enterprises together with the international project – “UNISON” team members. During the meeting Irma Shioshvili spoke about the plan of establishing Technological Center at TeSaU and proposed entrepreneurs to have firm relations with the University.

IV International Scientific Conference “Intercultural Dialogues” took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on October 27th, in which scientists from Georgian, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Japanese, American, Turkish, Ukrainian and other leading universities of the world were involved along with TeSaU.

Ewha Womans University of Korea announced admission to Bachelor, Master and Doctorate Programmes for the spring semester 2018.

The list of projects funded by European Commission for 2017 is revealed. Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University will be involved in two EC projects with the status of the partner university. Implementation of the projects is taking its start in the current year. 

Narva College of the University of Tartu is announcing a call for the scholarship programme 2018 - “Multilingual education and CLIL (content and Language Integrated Learning) Methodology” for the spring exchange semester. The aim of the semester scholarship is to introduce and promote best Estonian practices in multilingual education as well as build closer international ties in the field of education and teacher training between Estonia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The programme is for master students of Education, Teacher Training or any similar discipline.

Studies on seven educational programs at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University will be financed by the state.

II International Youth Conference will be held in Stepanakert City (Khankendi) on 14-17 September of 2017. The title of the conference is “Problems and Perspectives of International recognizing of Nagorno-Karabakh”.

On June 26, dissertation defense of Nona Kitiashvili took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Education Sciences. The title of the dissertation was “Problems with using Grammar Tenses in Oral Speech (while teaching General English at Universities)”. Scientific supervisor – Associate Professor Tamar Mikeladze.  

On June 26, dissertation defense of Nestan Kvitsinadze took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Education Sciences. The title of the dissertation was “The Role of Printed Media Resources in Teaching ESP (Business English) in Higher Education Institutions”. Scientific supervisor: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Manana Garibashvili.   
The main aim of the research is to determine/set the role of the printed media in ESP (Business English) teaching process in the higher education.

On June 26, PhD student of Georgian Language doctorate educational program defended dissertation at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Dissertation Board of the faculty of Humanities. The title of the dissertation was “Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani's homilies and Christian Homiletics” (scientific supervisor – Associate Professor Nino Giorgadze). 

On June 23, dissertation defense of Saffet Bayraktutan took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Education Sciences. The title of the dissertation was “The Concept of the Supportive Information Technologies in the Effective Management and Control of Teaching Quality in Secondary Schools” (scientific supervisor: Professor Guram Chachanidze).  

On June 23, dissertation defense of Khatuna Kharkheli took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Education Sciences. The title of the dissertation was “The Role of Formal and Informal Letters in Development of Writing Culture (While Teaching General English at Higher Education Institutions)”.

On June 22, doctorate student of the Typological Linguistics educational program defended dissertation at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Dissertation Board of the faculty of Humanities. The title of the dissertation was “Linguistic Expression Models of Simile in Different System Languages” (scientific supervisors: Professor Nunu Geldiashvili and Professor Manana Garibashvili).

The Second International Conference on “Art, History, Literature and Culture in the Black Sea Region and South Caucasus” is taking place on September 26-27, 2017.

The National Archives of Georgia serve the political, economic, scientific and cultural interests of the country.  The main objective of the archives, in addition to the preservation of the rich archival collection and ease of access to such documentation, is to study the collections and create a solid scientific base.

On June 1, under the exchange programme of TEMPUS international project – Erasmus+, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University hosted the representatives from Angel Kanchev University of Ruse, Bulgaria.

Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, based in Seoul, is pleased to announce the scholarship program for Georgian citizens. The program envisages funding of 4 year study of Bachelor’s degree, which will fully cover the student’s tuition fees; however the other costs should be paid by the student.

International conference, dedicated to 94th anniversary of public leader Heydar Aliyev, took place at Ganja, Azerbaijan on May 4-5, 2017. The topic of the conference was “Actual Problems of Natural Sciences”. Among the conference participants were professors from the higher educational institutions of Azerbaijan, France, Spain, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and Georgia.

The project – “Accessibility beyond Physical Environment”, supported by Sweden Embassy and Swedish Institute (SI), is being implemented in Georgia within Europe Days.

The Faculty of Humanities at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is holding an International Symposium for Young Scholars in the Humanities. The goals of this symposium are to foster and promote the research of young scholars, and to engage Humanities and Kartvelologian Studies in international academic discourse.

Erasmus+ National Office arranged informational meeting for students interested in mobility at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on April 4.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Associate Professor of the Faculty of Education Sciences, Tamar Mikeladze has been to Linz University of Education (Austria) from March 26 to April 2, 2017 under Erasmus+ academic mobility programme.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University and Vilnius Business-College in Lithuania will make a joint bachelor programme in the field of business and tourism.

Leipzig University professors expressed their wish about involving Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University professors in the International Linguistic Congress regularly.

 The State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Viktor Dolidze met with Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University students on March 30.  

GLOW Georgia provides 6-months to year-long internship opportunities for university students that allow them to get full on experience in working for an NGO. Currently it needs a small grants program intern, a GLOW ambassador's program intern, and two general program interns.
