The list of projects funded by European Commission for 2017 is revealed. Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University will be involved in two EC projects with the status of the partner university. Implementation of the projects is taking its start in the current year. 

Narva College of the University of Tartu is announcing a call for the scholarship programme 2018 - “Multilingual education and CLIL (content and Language Integrated Learning) Methodology” for the spring exchange semester. The aim of the semester scholarship is to introduce and promote best Estonian practices in multilingual education as well as build closer international ties in the field of education and teacher training between Estonia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The programme is for master students of Education, Teacher Training or any similar discipline.

On June 26, dissertation defense of Nestan Kvitsinadze took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Education Sciences. The title of the dissertation was “The Role of Printed Media Resources in Teaching ESP (Business English) in Higher Education Institutions”. Scientific supervisor: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Manana Garibashvili.   
The main aim of the research is to determine/set the role of the printed media in ESP (Business English) teaching process in the higher education.

On June 26, PhD student of Georgian Language doctorate educational program defended dissertation at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Dissertation Board of the faculty of Humanities. The title of the dissertation was “Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani's homilies and Christian Homiletics” (scientific supervisor – Associate Professor Nino Giorgadze). 

On June 23, dissertation defense of Saffet Bayraktutan took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Education Sciences. The title of the dissertation was “The Concept of the Supportive Information Technologies in the Effective Management and Control of Teaching Quality in Secondary Schools” (scientific supervisor: Professor Guram Chachanidze).  

On June 23, dissertation defense of Khatuna Kharkheli took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University faculty of Education Sciences. The title of the dissertation was “The Role of Formal and Informal Letters in Development of Writing Culture (While Teaching General English at Higher Education Institutions)”.

On June 22, doctorate student of the Typological Linguistics educational program defended dissertation at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Dissertation Board of the faculty of Humanities. The title of the dissertation was “Linguistic Expression Models of Simile in Different System Languages” (scientific supervisors: Professor Nunu Geldiashvili and Professor Manana Garibashvili).

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University students became the winners of Erasmus+ exchange programme contest and they got an opportunity to study at foreign partner universities within a semester of 2016-2017 academic year.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, Georgian Primary Education Project (G-PriEd) and 9 higher educational institutions, amongst Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on November 18. The memorandum provides attraction of qualified and professional teachers, as well as cooperation for training future specialists.

Papers are welcome for the British International Conference in the field of Humanities. Correspondence report is also available at the conference.

Deadline for the submission of papers is December 10, 2016.

LEPL  - National Center for Teacher Professional Development made the first Georgian peer-reviewed electronic journal “Education Science” for the researchers of education.

The National Center for Teacher Professional Development conducts pedagogical trainings at Vocational Educational Institutions that aims to introduce new, modular programmes in vocational education.

On December 16, 2016, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Department of History is carrying out inner university scientific conference dedicated to Ivane Javakhishvili 140th anniversary.

The International Conference on Literature and English Language Teaching took place in Abu- Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on November 18-19. The conference was organized by Abu-Dhabi University and TESOL (Sudan).

DARE Consortium meetings are taking place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University.

The first plenary session was opened by TeSaU Rector on November 21. Irma Shioshvili greeted the professors from the Universities of Israel, England, Czechia, Romania, Lithuania and Georgia and wished them success. According to the Rector, after the multicultural project DOIT, DARE is the second successful one that gained great approval of EC (European Commission) experts. Along with the other European universities, Telavi State University is actively involved in the mentioned programs as well.

Representatives from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University “Children’s University” visited Telavi State University on November 18th.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Professor, linguist Roin Chikadze was awarded the Certificate of Honor by Georgian National Academy of Sciences.

Telavi State University IV year student of the faculty of Humanities (specialization – History), Maia Akhalkatsishvili gained success in the contest announced for getting Dimitri (Arzakan) Emukhvar and Zhiuli Shartava scholarships. The contest was announced on the initiative of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia that involved students from different higher educational institutions of Georgia.  

International Relations Office announces a call for academic staff in the following universities:

International scientific conference will be held in Pankisi Gorge in May 2017.  The decision about the abovementioned was made by the President of the Academy of Sciences, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Rector and Duisi Public School pedagogues during the meeting.

Under the joint project of Writers’ House of Georgia and Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University – “Conversations on Literature” – Tamar Japaridze conducted a public lecture “William Shakespeare’s Theatre” at TeSaU on October 27th.

The Republican Scientific Conference “Students’ Academic Forum: Contemporary Challenges of State Administration and Business” is taking place at St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University of the Patriarchate of Georgia on December 2, 2016.

 On October 10-14, 2016, training courses in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology took place at Ferrara University (Italy). The courses were delivered under the EU program TEMPUS funded project – “The Development of a Curriculum and Establishment of a Regional Training Platform for Haematology in Medical and Fundamental Sciences (DECERPH)”. 

On October 21st, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University International Relations Office arranged informational meeting on Erasmus+ exchange programmes for TeSaU students. 

On October 21st, Tartu (Estonia) University Professor conducted a public lecture “Economic Policy Basics” for Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University students of the faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Law. 

On October 19, 2016 Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University International Relations Office carried out informational meeting for those who wish to take internship in Germany.

One-month manufacturing practice at Frankfurt Integrative School in the field of inclusive education will be available for TeSaU students of the faculty of Educational Sciences.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Professor of the faculty of Educational Sciences, Nino Nakhutsrishvili visited the Republic of Estonia on September 24-30.

Informational meeting concerning practice at Frankfurt Integrative School (Germany) is taking place on October 19th, 11:00 at TeSaU building II. The programme is provided only for the students of the faculty of Educational Sciences. German language competence is compulsory for the  applicants. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy satisfied TeSaU requirement for finance renewal and appropriated funds for supporting Italian language teaching.  It was mentioned by Antonio Enrico Bartoli, the Italian Ambassador in Georgia, during the Italian Room opening ceremony at Telavi State University on October 14th. 

Informational meeting concerning the international exchange ERASMUS+ programmes for 2016-2017 academic years is taking place at TeSaU on October 21, 13:00 (university building I, floor II). English Language competence of B2 level is compulsory.

Vilnius Business School head of Quality Management Service shared her experience with Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University professor-teachers on October 12th. She made a presentation about Vilnius Business School educational programmes and international projects.

International Event March of Living commemorated to the Jewish Holocaust Remembrance Day is planned in Cracow, Poland on April 23-25, 2017. Students from all over the world are encouraged to join this important event that aims to inspire young people to fight against indifference, xenophobia, racism, anti-Semitism and injustice. Participants of the March of Living are important ambassadors for freedom, tolerance and respect. 

Training for French Language professors took place at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University that covered several days.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University hosted Education Festival and American Band (Matuto) concert organized by US Embassy on October 3.

The concert, attended by TeSaU students and professor-teachers, was opened by US Embassy Cultural Programs Coordinator.

Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University is involved in EU funded three-year project from November 2015. The project title is “Developing Programs for Access of Disadvantaged Groups of People and Regions to higher Education” (DARE ).

Georgian students are given a chance to study in Germany without any charge. A call is announced for getting EFD scholarship in Germany, that will give opportunity to two Georgian students for getting education at Passau University within 10 months and get 660 € per month. The language of study is German, thus the certificate of German language competence is quite essential. 

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted Summer School in Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology (the project was funded by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation) on July 11-15, 2016.
