USAID Primary Education Program Supervisor at TeSaU

USAID Primary Education Program Supervisor Nancy Parks, Grants Manager Nikoloz Chachkhiani and University Collaborations Coordinator Ana Abuladze visited Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University on August 31.

The meeting, held at TeSaU Faculty of Educational Sciences, was attended by the University Vice Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Nunu Geldiashvili,  Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Professor Davit Makhashvili, Head of the Department of Educational Sciences, Associate Professor Hamlet Razmadze, USAID Primary Education Program Manager at Telavi State University, Professor Nino Nakhutsrishvili, Financial-administrative Assistant, Professor Nino Modebadze, Kakheti Region program trainers and private sector representatives.

Separate aspects in grants program implementation, upcoming activities and collaboration perspectives with the private sector serving for the introduction of modern approaches, problem solution for primary level students, development of critical thinking and other essential skills, were emphasized during the meeting. It was also mentioned that Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University participation in the abovementioned project would give it an opportunity to be actively involved in educational reform supporting events.  

Primary education program financed by USAID (US Agency for International Development), that covers 4 years,  is being implemented by the RTI International Research Triangle Institute with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.  

TeSaU, as the partner university, is involved in the abovementioned program along with eight other Georgian universities.

Trainings planned within the frames of USAID Primary Education Program will be delivered by USAID Primary Education Program partner Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University group of trainers. The program target groups are public school directors, Maths and Georgian Language teachers at primary level (184 public schools from 8 municipalities of Kakheti Region).
