PhD Student Irakli Giorgadze’s Dissertation Defense at TeSaU Faculty of Humanities

PhD student Irakli Giorgadze defended dissertation at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Faculty of  Humanities on February 2. The title of the dissertation work is “National Movement Peculiarities in Georgia (in 20-90ies of XX century)”. Academic supervisor is Professor Elguja Mamukelashvili, doctor of Historical Sciences.

As the doctorate student denoted during the presentation, it is true that the people’s national liberation struggle in the Soviet period became the subject of many researches of historiography, those features, which accompanied these developments, has not yet been defined, studied until the end and scientifically justified. Assessments of the events often are biased and contradictory. Many events remain as the object of ambiguous assessment; the public attitude is often ambiguous, not justified in terms of scientific and the historical events are measured by the emotion only. Despite conflicting opinions, all of these concerns are interesting and should be the subject of scientific discussion, such as the collation of opinions is possible to establish the objective reality. This work aims to rectify the shortcomings, to use the factual material and archives for new materials, to present a complete picture of events and do objective, conceptually new findings.

Research theme scientific novelty lies in the fact that in the scientific circulation for the first time entered new sources, archival documents, Georgian and foreign printed materials, processes and people involved with records, epistolary legacy.

Irakli Giorgadze  was awarded the academic degree of the Doctor of History.
