The solemn honorary doctors’ award ceremony took place at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on January 17.
By the resolution of the Academic Council of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), London, Athens, Berlin and Frankfurt Professors were awarded with the rank of Honorary Doctors for their great contribution in promoting TSU educational and scientific activities and popularizing Georgian culture.
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Aleksandre Jejelava, Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia Mikheil Giorgadze, TSU Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze and other guests of honor greeted the event attendees.
Among honorary doctors were the British scientist, immunologist, Professor Peter Lydyard (London and Westminster Universities, Great Britain), who has been in close cooperation with Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University for 20 years. He has done a great bit in the development of Immunology and Hematology fields and equipment of TeSaU laboratories. Moreover, under the supervision of Professor Peter Lydyard and Professor Nino Porakishvili, the TEMPUS project is being implemented successfully. One of the partner universities of the project is TeSaU (Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, coordinator – Professor Magda Davitashvili).
Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University Rector, Associate Professor Irma Shioshvili, TeSaU Academic Board secretary, Professor Roin Chikadze and Dean of the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, Professor Magda Davitashvili were invited at the solemn ceremony as well.
After the awards ceremony, the professors delivered public lectures.
