Fictional-documentary film “Who has killed Ilia…” was displayed at Telavi State University. It is made according to the MIA Archive concerning Ilia Chavchavadze’s assassination, his last way to Saguramo.
The aim of the film authors was to display the development of fatal occurrences dated by September 12, 1907 in an artistic manner, as well as to introduce quite new version of Ilia’s assassination, stated with the viewpoints of historians and investigators. Telavi State University professor Tengiz Simashvili, who did a great merit in discovering new facts, is worth of mentioning as well. He was the initiator of displaying the film in Telavi.
Action takes place in three periods of time – on the day of Ilia’s assassination, in Bolshevik epoch, when the killers were judged and in modern era, when restoring and investigating the details of the occurrence takes place via technical means.
“Complete reconstruction of the assassination was made with the help of experts. MIA Archive collaborators discovered quite new and vague details regarding Ilia’s assassination as a result of conjoint work that is depicted in the abovementioned film. Moreover, criminal case about the fact of Ilia’s assassination was investigated again. The case is kept in MIA Archive and contains 11 volumes. Habitoscopic examination was done at Examination-Criminalistic Main Department, and in Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau – additional examination of the doctors’ opinions who made dissection of Ilia Tchavchavadze” – mentioned MIA Archive director Omar Tushurauli.
Kote Tolordava acted the role of Ilia Tchavchavadze in fictional-documentary film, and Nanuka Khuskivadze acted the role of his wife. Gogi Kavtaradze, Givi Berikashvili, Paata Mkheidze, Irakli Cholokashvili, Zaza Iakashvili and other actors took part in the film as well. The film producer and the scenery author is Mikheil Berinashvili, music belongs to Niaz Diasamidze.
The film was attended by the university administration, professor-teachers, students, pupils and local authority representatives.
